Structured Research Methodology Course | Students must pass five (5) Structured Research Methodology courses as recommended by the Main Supervisor as part of the award requirements. |
Approval from Research Lab / Site Owner | Students must submit written consent from Field Supervisor or External Co-Supervisor and obtain permission from the laboratory/industrial site owner to conduct research without any financial implications for Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah. |
Research Novelty | The research's novelty can be assessed based on methodologies that enhance
production quality through the following five (5) aspects:

Seminar/Colloquium | Students are required to present their research at least once (1) in a seminar/colloquium organized at the industrial site. |
Exemptions from English language requirement may be granted to the following candidates:
- Students must pass five (5) Structured Research Methodology courses.
- Students must complete and pass all assessments for their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by Industry studies (refer to PROGRAMME STRUCTURE).
- Students must submit research progress reports at the prescribed times each semester.
- Students must pass Conceptual Defense assessments.
- Full-time and part-time students are required to be physically present at the industrial site at all times throughout their study period and, if necessary, may attend the UMPSA campus from time to time.
- Seminar/colloquium presentations must be conducted face-to-face at the industrial site and evaluated by the Field Examiner and, if necessary, by the Internal Examiner.
- The university is not responsible for any accidents involving students during research activities at the research site or while traveling to the university, except as covered under the student insurance policy. Students are encouraged to obtain personal insurance coverage.
- Students are subject to all university regulations and the Universities and University Colleges Act (AUKU) throughout their study period.
- International students are fully responsible for complying with the visa and immigration regulations set by the Malaysian government.
- Students are permitted to switch the program to Conventional method or Remote Supervision method only once throughout the study period.
