Note
  • International student candidates who do not meet the English language requirements may be granted conditional approval. Applicants are given a period of two (2) years from the registration date to fulfil their English language requirements.
  • TOEFL ITP and PBT certificates are not accepted for admission to this programme.

APPLICATIONS

All applications for postgraduate programe must be made through our online application portal, https://ipsonline.ump.edu.my/ipsonline/admission_v2/

Application for admission is open throughout the year. We offer two (2) intakes per year which are in February/March and September/October. For more details, please refer to the Academic Calendar on our website page (Current Students > Academic Calendar). If you miss the closing date of application for admission into a semester, your application for admission is automatically transferred to the following semester.

No, all required documents need to be uploaded during filling in the online application form.

Yes. A final-year student of undergraduate programme can apply provided his/her current CGPA meets the programme admission requirement. The senate letter or scroll should be sent after received original copy from your institutions.

Visa application must be done by students directly from EMGS at https://visa.educationmalaysia.gov.my/. You can also refer to the Centre of International Relations (CIR) UMPSA for assistance with your student visa application. They provide guidance on the visa process, required documentation, and other related matters to ensure a smooth transition to studying at UMPSA. The processing fee is RM50 for local applicants and USD30 for international applicants. Payment can be made through our online application portal or via bank transfer. For detailed instructions on how to make bank transfer, please consult the Bursary Department via email to collection1@umpsa.edu.my or contact them at +609-431 6019.

The result typically takes about one (1) week to be processed. However, please note that the result is subject to Faculty approval, which may affect the processing time. You can view the status in the application portal. If you have any concerns, feel free to contact IPS Admission Team for assistance.

Yes. You may defer the admission to the next incoming intake but not more than two (2) semesters or one (1) academic year. Otherwise, your offer status will be “REJECTED” and you need to submit a new application to get another offer.

Yes, Malaysian applicants may apply for admission to UMPSA through Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning, APEL.A. It provides an ‘alternative’ pathway or entry method to those who do not possess the requisite formal qualification to further their education to a higher level.

Interested applicant (must be aged 30 years at the time of application) may apply for APEL.A assessment through Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) website, https://www2.mqa.gov.my/apel_a/.

English language requirement is compulsory for all international applicants.

For research mode applicants, we strongly advise you to search for a potential supervisor before submitting your application. Identifying a supervisor whose research interests align with your proposed study ensures a better match and increases the likelihood of your proposal being accepted. You can use the web directory to find potential supervisors, where you can access their profiles and contact details. Alternatively, you can explore the Booklet: Cluster of Knowledge, which categorizes academic staff based on their areas of expertise. This booklet serves as a helpful resource to identify supervisors whose research interests align with your proposed study, ensuring a better match for your research journey.

However, please note that the Faculty's selection committee reserves the right to assign a new supervisor if deemed necessary. This ensures the best possible guidance for your research based on the availability and expertise of the academic staff.

A Master's student who excels in his/her study can apply for a conversion to PhD programme after 2 semesters.
